Recruitment Drive:
We’re very interested in expanding the band! To do that we’d have to, you know, add more people. We/you are: a solid musician, stable, enjoy collaborating in a friendly and respectful environment, willing to practice and rehearse on a regular basis, interested in performing and recording, fully vaccinated against COVID 19, politically progressive. Both jazz and rock chops are a plus! We have a unique sound derived from a deep immersion in this genre and infuse complex compositions with diverse influences while remaining 101% true to the Breton core.
What instruments: drum-kit, sax, violin, electric guitar, cello, bass, trumpet, etc…
Pros: sophisticated and evocative music, nice, dedicated people, stable band situation.
Cons: Not easy to play, requires work, doesn’t particularly pay.

ABOUT US / AR STROLLAD
Bara Gwin performs Breton music at full tempo and full volume, with daring and imagination. We believe that Fest Noz music is as significant and distinctive as other great musical genres of universal appeal such as tango or jazz.
‘Bara Gwin’ is a Breton term for ‘food and drink’ that gave rise to the French word ‘baragouin’. Baragouin, originally a contemptuous reference to Breton, means in French: outlandish unintelligible speech, incomprehensible language, gibberish.

is a musical group based in Seattle, WA
that presents a bold, imaginative take on contemporary
Fest Noz (Night Party) music from Brittany, France.
The group uses powerful instrumentation, complex arrangements and a generous serving of original material - adding jazz, rock, blues, and other spices to the buttery Breton recipe.

SONA GREENBERG
Sona (Chromatic Accordion) spent years as a jazz pianist and symphonic oboe player but found the accordion in her group The Splendour Girls. Her musicianship and phenomenal talent with composition and arrangement are essential ingredients in our sound.
RON REED
Ron (Woodwinds) is a bombard (Breton oboe) player with a sound inspired by masters such as Youenn Le Bihan, Christian Faucheur, and Jean-Claude Petit, but has also focused on the tarogato, a modern single-reed instrument originally from eastern Europe.
